Emilian-Walter Lorenz appointed Head of Product Marketing at Bigpoint

Strategic new hire streamlines cross-departmental product and marketing activity

Bigpoint today announced Emilian-Walter Lorenz as Head of global Product Marketing, a key hire that underpins Bigpoint’s commitment to the strategic development of its global marketing department. Lorenz will be stationed at Bigpoint’s headquarters in Hamburg, where he will report to the company’s international board members. A renowned marketing expert, Lorenz previously served as European product manager for Nintendo Europe.

At Bigpoint he will spearhead the development of the global product and marketing departments. In addition to top-line marketing strategy, Lorenz will look after high-profile game assets, including trailers and marketing art.

Lorenz worked for Nintendo Europe for ten years, initially as a Brand Executive for GameCube and since 2006 as European Product Manager where he was responsible for the development, implementation and management of marketing strategies for Wii hardware and software products. Before joining Nintendo, from 2000 until 2002, Lorenz worked as a project manager at Lesch + Frei in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, where he coordinated corporate design programs for renowned banking and utility clients, including Commerzbank AG, Sudhessische Gas & Wasser AG, and Linde AG.

Originally from Romania, Lorenz studied in Frankfurt, as well as in Virginia, USA, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from Shenandoah University in 1999. In 2007, Lorenz completed an advanced ‘Diplom’ degree (the German equivalent of a Master’s degree), awarded from the Chartered Institute of Marketing in Berkshire, England.

“Emilian-Walter Lorenz is a superior product marketing expert with many years of valuable brand experience in the gaming sector. For exactly this reason, we are happy to welcome him to the Bigpoint team to put his industry know-how to good use,” said Heiko Hubertz, Bigpoint CEO.

“I believe Bigpoint has a promising future in the games market and am thrilled to join the team as Head of Product Marketing. With its diverse game portfolio and over 270 million registered users, joining Bigpoint provides a very exciting and dynamic opportunity to make a difference within a leading global gaming company,” said Lorenz. “I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead these departments and, in so doing, implement positive new changes in Bigpoint’s product marketing.”
