AI-powered tools like ChatGPT, Midjourney or Dall-E lately have surprised and impressed many with their seemingly creative works. In games, AI has been in use for different purposes for a while now - but new tools are more easily available, even to smaller players of the industry. They may bring along new ways of creating games faster and easier – but also questions around the role of human creativity, copyright, and job security.

Let’s get together in our work session format "Gamecity Forecast" and take a closer look at where the games industry is heading: What potentials do new powerful AI tools yield? What impact will they have and which problems may arise? How can we use AI to shape a better industry and what practices should we agree upon to keep it fair for everyone?

Join us on February 21, 6 pm (CET) for our online work session!

We will kick off the session with a keynote by Matt Dion, contributor at Naavik and product manager at EA. He will help us dive deeper into the topic by giving us an overview of the state of technology and upcoming developments as well as interesting cases where AI is already being used in game production. Afterwards, we will discuss implications and future outlooks in working groups.

How to participate:

This session is open to participants from different industries and from different company sizes so that every participant can profit from a wide range of perspectives. We reserve 50% of the seats for Hamburg games companies.

This event is aimed at decision-makers, directors, C-level, and managers from companies of any size. To create a productive workshop experience for every participant, reservations will only be final after a confirmation by us.

About Gamecity Forecast:

In our worksession series “Gamecity Forecast” we aim to take a look beyond the day-to-day business - and put our heads together on topics that will gain importance for the games sector in the (near) future. To share insights and develop new perspectives, we bring together experts from various fields with key people from the Hamburg games industry and other sectors. In a compact two-hour-session an expert guest speaker kicks off the discussion with a short keynote, then participants share thoughts, exchange perspectives and develop ideas together in mixed workshop groups. After the main events there’ll be opportunities to continue discussions on your ideas and build networks to follow up on them.
